Gender Perspective

Throughout the history of art, women have played an important and changing role in the search for their own space. Initially, they were relegated to the passive roles of muses or role models. Instead, others struggled as artists, in a larger role.

In the middle of the 20th century, the modernity of the avant-gardes endowed the situation of artists with an apparent balance; where the entire art world was still ruled by men. They were the most socially and economically valued artists, the most famous critics and the most important juries. It was only from the sixties that the feminist movements really got stronger and began to defend the role of women in the artistic field.

We hope that young women from South Kivu will have a prominent place in the BIO-PAIX talent show and, therefore, in the selection criteria of the Talent Show jury, the female sex will have a particular weighting.

A WOMAN HAS THE RIGHT TO BE A FAMOUS ARTIST
